Ok, if the flag of the United States flies at night, it must be well-lit. From whence (Yeah, I just like the expression) does this custom spring?

Charlie's tank was named Cobra Ki because his guys called themselves Cobras and he was the commander. When I met him I wanted to name all the tanks in my company after those in his. Sadly he only remembered his last one was cobra King VII, so I renamed mine from Cannae to cobra King VIII. When we traded M60A3s forIPM1s, Mr successor named his IX. Sometime later we changed from 2-37 to 3-34, but I was gone.
During the 35th anniversary of the bulge, I saw Charlie get a Hold Medal at the break inpoint from Luxembourg. I have a picture somewhere shaking hands after that event.
He died six weeks or so, as I recall, but he had told Jimmie Leach, our HCOR that he was glad to have met us and he felt the regiment was well in hand.
What other famous action was C/37 involved in?

I believe GEN Simon Boliver Buckner was the most Senior General Officer killed in WWII on Okinawa by artillery fire, followed by LRG Leslie McNair while observing the carpet bombing prior to person cobra.Cav Dog wrote:Chris beat me to it rats.
Rose was notable for being the most senior US general KIA. IIRC, he tried to go head to head with a Tiger in his jeep. He was machined gunned though.

Rose was not the most senior officer killed in Europe during WWII, and I should have clarified. Rose, commanding 3AD, was caught too far forward, and machine-gunned by a German tank commander while reaching for his shoulder-holstered pistol. The commander of US forces in the ETO , a fellow by the name of Andrews, was killed in a B24 crash in '43, and in 1944, during Operation Cobra, Leslie J. McNair, Chief of Army Ground Forces, was killed while observing 30th Infantry Division when the Air Corps bombing prep fell short. Simon Bolivar Buckner commanded 10th Army on Okinawa and was killed by enemy artillery fire.
Andrews, McNair, and Buckner were all 3-stars, so it could be contentious, but I maintain that his position as Chief of Army Ground Forces made McNair the senior.
I asked specifically about Rose and should have qualified the answer given. Apologies.
