Thanks, gentlemen. Redleg, I really appreciate what you said. I'm a naval history geek, always have been, and I try to communicate some of my enthusiasm for it.

I have done 2 more carriers, Shokaku & Zuikaku. Indeed, there is a whiff of an upcoming Solomon campaign in the air. It's the best setting for a carrier game, as sides are as well balanced historically as could be, fighting both at the end of long lines of communication, with the Kido Butai just past its apex, and the US carrier pilots rapidly improving. Notwithstanding the fact that till November 43, you have a bevy of surface naval battles at night with variable results..

Well, Shokaku. A glorious ship, and my favorite IJN carrier by the way, and, till the coming of the ** CENSORED ** class, this class was the best carrier class afloat...

And Zuikaku, the last survivor of the 1941 Kido Butai, but not by much : she joined her sister ship Shokaku to the bottom, a mere 4 months after her sinking, at the battle of Leyte Gulf (BTW, the recent book by Mark Stille is well worth a read if you are interested in naval history)

Excellent work on both the late war versions of the Shokaku and Zuikaku, Foxbat! One of these days I may have to paint an aircraft carrier again although my main interest is in surface battles. You do stellar work!

@ww2navyguy Thanks. The camo decks are done with Flight Deck decals. Their products made me jump the hurdle and start a carrier collection.

And speaking of which... 2 more carriers, early war too but USN this time. Thinking of a 1942 NIMITZ Solomons campaign...

USS Yorktown which was already sunk by that time, and which is here by the occurrence of a fortunate missclick (instead of CV 10 going by the same name). Well, felix culpa, and the chance to add it to my collection. Done in her Midway livery

And USS Saratoga, in her early war MS21 livery. She took part in the Eastern Solomons battle in August 42, after and before sent to the naval shipyard for repairs due to torpedo damage. A strange looking ship, with her "battlecruiser" tower and huge funnel, but good looking nonetheless. She also has a closed bow, unlike the following classes, which makes me wonder why it was abandoned as it is way better in rough seas.
