Sorry, I have no other photo of my Chinook yet.
The reason is when I began painting this model, I have discover that the GHQ's Chinook version is not suitable for Vietnam war !

So, I had to stop job paint to make scratchbuild modifications before go on with.

We've got the modern version of Chinook.

Here is what we have with the actual GHQ's Chinook :

Here is what we need for Vietnam :

Air filters engine are completly differents on the Vietnam version and the rear part of careening's engine tail is very different too !

I have four GHQ's Chinook to modify ! Too much work

! I will see this trouble later...

I am very impressed by your awesome work Pibber.

Your work is one of the reasons I have even considered playing anything other than GW stuff or FoW.

I love the hexes, and had one of those eureka moments when you said they were made in mdf. What sort of template do you use to make those?

I am curious. Are you primarily a modeler? Or do you also game with your incredible models? I have to say that this forum is the best publicity GHQ currently has for their models. Every time I see something like Pibbers models I am inspired to buy!

To "ravenseye" :
MDF mean "Medium density fiber". Panels (or plank) MDF are made in very small fibers of wood glue with a sort of resin. It's a very fine surface quality. A lot of household fournitures are made with. There are few thickness : 3mm, 7mm, 10mm, 18mm, 22mm, 30, 40,....
I suppose you can find it very easely in your tool stores (or wood store).

I use the 3mm thickness for my hex. I drawing the hex form on the MDF plank, then I cut it with a saw and make the finishing with fine wood grater and fine sand paper.

Primarily, I am a military modeler. (I use to make WWII 1/35 military miniatures). I practice modelling since I was eight year old (!) (I'm 39 years old today).
In 80's, I used to play wargames with paper map and pasteboard pawns like "Squad leader" game too. But one day in 1991, I have discovered GHQ figurines pack in an american military PX in Germany (in 1991-92, I was tank commander in germany in "1er rÃ©giment de Cuirassiers" in Sank wendel - Saarland, so, we were going sometime in American PX)
I was stupefy to see the hight quality of GHQ military figurines !!!!

This was a revelation for me !

So, I decided to stop playing with paper pawns (!) and I wanted bying this figurines to play with on a very detail landscape for more realistic effect !

By this time, I 'm now a GHQ passionate. First, I began buying WWII GHQ models
(US, GB, Germans and Russians only) and make my own WWII rules 1:1.
I began to make my game landscape boarding too.
I play on it regulary with few good friends.

(Sorry it's not Vietnam)

I'm very passionate about Vietnam war too. So now, I decided to play (like my WWII rules) (1:1) for Vietnam war. Particulary Riverine forces, because GHQ riverine boats are very beautiful figurines and I think it's an original subject.
So, all models you see are destinate to play with !
I'm about to create the landscape and rivers to reproduce parts of Mekong delta, south Vietnam. But it's a very, very, long job

(I began buying GHQ Vietnam boats since 1996 ! As you see, It's very long for me to constitute an army !)

Again, I 've got full originals scratchbuild ideas for my Nam project.
Photos will come next months this year.....

Absolutely beautiful work... thanks for sharing the pictures with us. Your work brings back many memories, some good, some not so good.

Here are pictures of two of my favorite AC from the period worth sharing...

Both aircarft played a vital part during the war. The F-8 was flown by a very good friend.

Have you got another beautiful original AC model for the Vietnam war period ?

I suppose that many of you on this forum are probably Vietnam veterans. I'd watching many and many photos and read many and many books about this war. My work can be a memory work too, to do homage to soldiers who had fought there.
So, I hope my work brings back more many good memories than not so good one...
