You never fail to impress. What I love the most is your level of consistency despite a time lag of years between finishing stages of your build. I always have to do an entire company/squadron in one go for fear that they won't look similar if I do them in batches. Bravo, sir!!!!

Thank you very much, Redleg, Hoth, and Paul B!

Paul, some of my units are painted pretty much all at once but some of them are painted in batches. I try to keep base colors and camo patterns reasonably close but sometimes there are some variations here and there.

The first 11 Crusader III's were painted at least 10 years ago or so. As stated, these last 6 had been languishing on nails for probably about that long. Sometimes I start a new project so an older project sits around for a while. I do have a few other projects that need finishing.

I am happy to get these last 6 Crusader III's done. Now I just need 2 Crusader II CS tanks to complete the squadron. I would love to see GHQ do some CS tanks sometime or at least the turrets.

This last Saturday, I made the trek to Jerome, Arizona, to host a game of Mein Panzer at Copper Town Games. This was another run of my "Cruisin' for a Bruisin'" scenario set in North Africa sometime in mid 1942.

For those that don't know, Jerome is actually a "Ghost" Town in the general area of the Verde Valley and sits on the side of Mingus Mountain. It is a former copper mining town that became a ghost town when the mine played out. Later, sometime in the 1970s, it became an artists colony and now draws in a fair number of tourists.

Copper Town Games is a store located in part of an old school building and is run by MIke And Will Blodgett. They great guys and very welcoming to all in the gaming community. Copper Town is one of the few stores (maybe the only store) that stocks GHQ Micro Armor. They have a decent selection of other historical gaming miniatures as well as non historicals.

I arrived at the store at about 10:00 AM, set up the game, and took off for lunch at about 11:30 or so. There are several decent restaurants in town and I went to Bobby D's Barbeque and had lunch with my cousin Dave. I had a great Cuban Sandwich and a great time catching up with my cousin.

At 1:00 we started the game. I had Mike Blodgett as the British Commander and one of my veteran players, Rick Brown, took the Germans. Each player had a company/squadron of 4 platoons each with a HQ section. The British had their Crusader II's while the Germans had a mixture of Panzer III's and Panzer II's.

Victory was measured by knocking out or brewing up enemy tanks and also for control of the crossroads in the town. The Germans got into the town first and the British initially took up hull down positions on one of the hills. After a couple of turns the British came down off the hill to contest the town and the battle evolved into a real knife fight after that. Some of the engagements were occurring at 2 inches or less which translates into 100 yards in game scale.

The battle lasted 7 turns when we called the game. This time, the Germans came out on top as they had control of the crossroads and had inflicted more casualties on the British than they took themselves. Both players played well and pretty agressively and the game flowed very smoothly with almost no problem except I had to reacquaint myself with the rules for Reaction Fire. This game turned out really well in my opinion.

Here are a few pictures of the action.

Pete,

Great AAR. Love the pictures. The pieces and terrain are a work of art. I really hope I can get out to Arizona, and not come down with COVID, and catch a game.

Great looking game, Pete! As always! I always get super jealous when I see your games, and you got to battle in a ghost town too! That makes it even cooler!

Thank you very much, Hoth, Redleg, and Foxbat!

Cruisin' for a Bruisin' is my go-to introductory Mein Panzer scenario. It is tanks only which is the basic core rules for Mein Panzer, the forces are pretty evenly matched with the Germans having just a tiny bit better troop quality but not significant and the tanks are pretty evenly matched as well. I don't really used any special rules for this one except command and control. I made both sides regulars although I could have made one or both sides veterans but then that adds a few more rules.

In this game, both players had played before so knew the rules pretty well. I was very impressed by how the game flowed this time and getting in 7 turns in just about 2 hours is doing very well.

Sand Wars is coming up in just over 2 weeks. I will be running my "Stemming the Tide" scenario. This one, set on the Russian Front in 1943 will see the Germans as veterans and the tank match-ups won't be quite so even as the Panzer III's with some Panzer IV's try to hold off a T-34 battalion. This scenario was played last year and the result was a draw.

Foxbat, I am happy you liked the infantry and my Crusader III's I was happy to get those 6 Crusader III's finished and now I almost have a complete squadron.

It has been a while since I have posted on my thread here. I have been busy playing a few games and working on some various projects.

My latest completed project is 5 Normandy buildings from 2D6. These are very nicely sculpted and done in resin. I am working on doing more games set on the West Front 1944-45 and felt I needed to add more terrain, especially building, to represent the region.
