Russian tank companies are 10 tanks - 3 platoons of 3 tanks plus 1 company command tank. In the '70s, tank companies of a motorized rifle Regiment's tank battalion had 3 platoons of 4 tanks plus the command tank, but that was changed sometime in the '80s and all formations standardized to 10 per company.

The Tank Company, Tank Battalion, Motorized Rifle Regiment, MRD & TD
13 tanks, T-64,/72/80 per tank Company.
40 tanks in tank battalion, which is the total tanks in Motorized Rifle Regiment.

I don't know exactly when the 40-tank company was reduced to 31. It may have been extant throughout the '80s. I come across organizational changes by chance. I live in the '70s and early '80s regarding GHQ. When the Army left the J series TOE, it left me, as well. I just can't follow it all and really good references are harder to find, since folks don't publish the books I used to use anymore. It's all on line, interfered with by AIs giving me what THEY THINK I should want instead of what I asked for. I throw up my hands, toss some expletives at the computer, and go back into pre-1990. I'm happy with that, anyway.

PG, I understand the thought process. I am there with you. I remember having the book (FM-100-....)
IIRC, it took many a bunch of time running across it to get the right division for the 4-tank platoon.
What is also interesting (going from a vague memory) is the Infantry companies: 3 BMPs to a platoon, 3 platoons to the company with 1 additional for the company commander. But it can have 2-4 more for AGS-17, AT missile time and/or SAM. I may go look that up again.
